Last Bastion of Free Speech

July 25th, 2008 JAdams 4 comments

Because of the my total disdain for political correctness and how special interest groups can get people fried from this jobs because of a simple joke or slip of the tongue, I have not considered the United States a champion or leader in the arena of free speech. But according to an article Canada, Britain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, South Africa, Australia and India all have laws or have signed international conventions banning hate speech.

That is eight major world countries that have laws banning or limiting peoples speech. These countries have laws that limit the discussion within their citizen base. Let’s be clear, limiting what people in a country can say is a great way of controlling the population and limiting the discussion on topics that the government wants to.

The political correctness of this county make me sick and drives me completely crazy and hate laws are completely without merit. How can a law police a feeling? Really tell me? How do you or anyone else know if I, or anyone else, said something in hate? You can’t and no one can. But still we like to rise up in this country and call something raciest or hateful to stifle the discussion because the people making those claims can argue their point or are completely wrong.

This country was founded on free speech, but liberal crybabies want to limit that right by tagging something as hate speech when they feel it works to their advantage, or more likely on a subject that cannot be defended. No speech should be restricted, you want to yell fire in a crowded theater, well be prepared to live with the consequences of your actions.

But instead of having a think skin in this country lets get hurt when someone calls us a name, have them put in jail and seek counseling for the next five years. Because, lets face it more and more people in the US are whiny little crybabies who believe “Sticks and stones may break my bones but works will damage my inner child forever.” (paraphrase of Carlos Mencia).

In America we have to put up with the liberal crybabies and special interest groups in regards to hate speech, but thank god we have no laws against it, yet. Now there are hate crimes, but if your just having a conversation or even an argument you can’t be charged. But given enough time I’m sure the liberal lawyers will figure that one out soon as well.

Enjoy your limited free speech while you can, it’s only going to get wrose. Never have I heard of a goverment giving back rights, real concrete ones, once they’ve been taken away. So peace out my nigga’s! Opps, did I just say that.

My stance, comment and debate the issues

energy: Should we drill of shore or in Alaska and many other places in order to lower the price of oil? NO! Should we force middle eastern counties to produce more oil? NO!

Its time to think of different alternatives to gas and oil. We have been hearing the argument of energy independence for decades. Jimmy carter, a democrat, faced a similar issue and was saying everything we are saying today. I believe completely that we need to get away from oil but its up to the consumer to make the change happen. Everyone is complaining about high gas prices but more people are walking through their neighborhoods and bicycling because of it. Instead of being isolated in our cars, separated from the out side world, and passing the blame to the oil companies and the government we should get a fuel efficient car and a bike. Such a move will force the oil companies to try to get money somewhere els. Oil is bad for our health, bad for our environment, and a risk to our security. If Iran or any middle eastern country decided to stop selling us oil our whole country would be in chaos and we would be forced to invade. Take a walk out side and listen to the birds. When you run into a friend or have a short conversation with a stranger are you going to regret not being in a car. Tell me, how much road rage will you experience? I think we can force the government and the oil companies to realize the archaic days of oil are over!

abortion: When it comes to moral issues like abortion and gay marriage the government should not be able to support or ban anything. I believe it should be left up to individual communities, cities and or states in order to keep large groups of people from getting angry and creating civil unrest. In the process of determining what I think is right and wrong I tried first to find an accurate source of right and wrong. The government is not an accurate source because it can be wrong. The majority vote isn’t necessarily right either because it can be wrong. I decided to choose nature as my source to determine right from wrong, but it should be left up to individual communities, cities and or states to make sure the number of people insulted stays minimal.

social security: The fact that the government is trying to take care of my retirement is ridiculous! if they weren’t taking the eighty dollars out of my check every payday I would arrange to have one hundred dollars directly deposited into a retirement fund or put into a 401k.

education: We need more alternatives to public school. With less people in public schools there would be less issues with money and space and the class rooms would contain better face to face learning. Alternatives are of course private schools, both in class rooms and online, public schools that offer online opportunity’s where parents can help teach their kids instead of relying wholly on some teacher the parent doesn’t know, and home schooling. A combination of all these options would ease the stress on our school system as well as keeping us from relying wholly on the government to educate our children.

Not So Freedom Of Speech

The Randi Rhodes situation is interesting, and we should look into a little. If you haven’t heard or kept up on it, Air America suspended Randi Rhodes for a rant against Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro where she called both of them whores. She was suspended for those comments, not the onces in the same breath where she attacked Richard Nixon and Dick Cheney personally. So using Air America’s logic it’s ok to personally attack a conservative or republican but not one of their liberal darlings.

It’s amazing how the country has twisted and morphed free speech into, well not free speech. Now a days you can’t say anything about any race, other then white, or any religion, other then Catholic/Christian, or any sex, other then men. If you do your going to get the PC thought police trying to get you fired. That effectively censors anyone wanting to speak their mind about a subject. The nutzo’s will of course say that your speech is free and your getting fired because of what you said, but your were allowed to say it.

Free speech means, well free. If I say my piece I won’t get fired or suspended. If I do then that speech wasn’t free, it cost something. The nutzo’s have been pushing this political correctness for years now and are starting to get bit by it. For a long time it was only conservatives or republicans that would get fired and liberals would get a pass. I don’t in any way agree with Randi Rhodes on any level. I personally think she’s a class warfare playing, hate causing, ultra liberal. But she has every right to say whatever she feels like, just as long as she doesn’t break the law.

What do you think would happen if Dick Cheney would have complained about Randi Rhodes comments? Do you think she would have been suspended, hell no! If Mr. Cheney would have complained he would have been told to shut up and to stop being so sensitive. Even more probable Randi Rhodes would have complained that Mr. Cheney is trying to censor her and silence the American people. But since it was a liberal that complained, well then suspend her! That’s all Air America is anyways, that type of hate and language, it’s just mostly, around 99.999%, pointed to conservatives and republicans, gotta love the double standard.

I don’t care who you are or what your politics are, you should be allowed to say what you feel and from your heart. Some people will agree with your and some wont. What can’t happen is the people who don’t shouldn’t be allowed to try and silence you just because they don’t agree with what your saying.

There’s a war going on, the economy is tanking and we’re getting hurt over words, grow up people.
