It’s….Finally over!

November 6th, 2008 JAdams No comments

Finally, after 2 years of campaigning and politics, it’s over and Obama is president. Part of me is actually glad, my hope is that the real Republicans will get their heads out of their collective asses and head back to what matters. Hopefully John McCain will never run again, Sara Palin will go back to Alaska and never return. As much as I like John McCain he’s not a smart man, and extremely old and out of touch. Sara Palin doesn’t have any experience or knowledge to have been thrust into the position she was in, stay in Alaska lady. McCain had to choose someone like Palin because choosing someone like Mitt Romney would anger the bible thumping Republicans.

What I hear from 90% of the young, smart, people out there is that if Republicans were so god damn bible thumping they would stand with them. They constantly side with the religious fanatics, which are the rights version of the lefts anti-war, green party, MoveOn.org’ers. Young people are extremely tolerant, but there is no reason for religion in politics for a county that doesn’t have one religion, and they know this. The Republicans constantly tackle issues that no one cares about because they have to please the bible thump’ers, for example the FCC’s crusade against TV and Radio for accidents. They try to be the ones who says what’s moral and not, and this is what they got.

I classify myself as a socially liberal conservative. This means I’m pro choice, I’m not religious but I’m spiritual. I believe in limited government and that taxes should be low. I believe that people will help other people, though giving and that shouldn’t be mandated via the government. I believe in free speech and that I have no right to tell gays or lesbians how to live and that they should get married. I also believe in the right to bear arms.

Now why is this that so freaking hard! No one speaks for me, no one. Republicans are bible thump’ers who just want to stifle speech on radio and TV because it may contain sex. They also want to tell gays and lesbians that they can’t marry and no more abortions. Meanwhile the Democrats want to tax me to death, give it to people who pay no taxes and don’t work. They want abortions but refuse to kill criminals who rape and kill people. They trumpet man made global warming that any people with half a brain knows is a lie. They also hate every religion and want it banned from everything, except of course if that religion is Muslim.

I HATE both parties! I’m sick of having to put up with Republican religious bullshit because they are better than the Democrats. Wait, I just heard something, did one of you reading this just say a third party? Green Party (YUCK), Libertarian (YUCK AGAIN). Independent, now wait a second, what dies Independent mean? Well let me tell you, it’s a Democrat or Republican who’s trying to get the most votes by not being affiliated with one of those parties.

I don’t mind Obama being president, but having the Democrats control everything is not good. It wasn’t good when the Republicans had that power, and all the Democrats were crying. Now that the tables are turned they love it. It makes me sick and it should make you sick too. Our government and Congress in particular was founded on the principal of compromise. Well we can’t have that when one party is in control.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again. Things are going to get a lot worse before they get any better. People have to stop being blindly lead around by flashy’ness, or party politics. This country isn’t doomed because of Obama, he’ll do fine. But this country is doomed because of us, all of us.

Why we have guns

November 3rd, 2008 JAdams 4 comments

I’ve been reading the book “Culture of Fear” lately. I know I’m years behind the bandwagon and knowing that Michael Moore’s movie Bowling for Columbine I expected a more liberal take. I do recommend the book as it is very critical of the media and that they, and us, tend not to focus on the right issues.  But a theme of the book was very anti-gun. According to the author, Barry Glassner, if we didn’t have guns nothing would be wrong. Which I’m sure was what Michael Moore was trumpeting.

First let me say that there are just people out there that should not, and never have, guns of any kind. Criminals, people who have anger management issues and other metal instabilities should not be allowed to buy a weapon of any kind. Some people would have it this way, I do not. I would not mind taking a test, getting gun safety training and keeping my mental stability test and gun safety tests up to date every few years or so.

Now that I’ve said that there is a reason why the founding fathers wanted the citizens of this country to be armed. The reason is that an unarmed and defenseless citizenry is much easier to control and pacify.

Sometime in the future there is going to be a need to refresh the tree of liberty and when this happens it is the citizens of this country that will refresh it and keep the spirit of the United States alive. This may not be in the next 50 years, or 100 years, but it will happen. We would be foolish to think that the United States will live on forever in it’s current form. The government will crave more and more power and control and eventually the citizens of that time will show it why a government should fear it’s citizens and not the other way around.

Should all guns be allowed? No. Fully automatic rifles should not be on the streets along with any heavy artillery, like missile launchers, mines, etc. But as a whole the citizens of this country, and democrats in particular, need to stop thinking small and near term. They rail against the Patriot Act but try to limit our ability to protect ourselves from an oppressive government. That’s because they are part of it and it’s their source of power just the same as the Republicans.

No one can predict when the time will come and it’s vital that we are ever vigilant and keep the government in check. Your power as a citizen of this country is your voice and your gun. Remember to speak softly and carry a big stick.

My stance, comment and debate the issues

energy: Should we drill of shore or in Alaska and many other places in order to lower the price of oil? NO! Should we force middle eastern counties to produce more oil? NO!

Its time to think of different alternatives to gas and oil. We have been hearing the argument of energy independence for decades. Jimmy carter, a democrat, faced a similar issue and was saying everything we are saying today. I believe completely that we need to get away from oil but its up to the consumer to make the change happen. Everyone is complaining about high gas prices but more people are walking through their neighborhoods and bicycling because of it. Instead of being isolated in our cars, separated from the out side world, and passing the blame to the oil companies and the government we should get a fuel efficient car and a bike. Such a move will force the oil companies to try to get money somewhere els. Oil is bad for our health, bad for our environment, and a risk to our security. If Iran or any middle eastern country decided to stop selling us oil our whole country would be in chaos and we would be forced to invade. Take a walk out side and listen to the birds. When you run into a friend or have a short conversation with a stranger are you going to regret not being in a car. Tell me, how much road rage will you experience? I think we can force the government and the oil companies to realize the archaic days of oil are over!

abortion: When it comes to moral issues like abortion and gay marriage the government should not be able to support or ban anything. I believe it should be left up to individual communities, cities and or states in order to keep large groups of people from getting angry and creating civil unrest. In the process of determining what I think is right and wrong I tried first to find an accurate source of right and wrong. The government is not an accurate source because it can be wrong. The majority vote isn’t necessarily right either because it can be wrong. I decided to choose nature as my source to determine right from wrong, but it should be left up to individual communities, cities and or states to make sure the number of people insulted stays minimal.

social security: The fact that the government is trying to take care of my retirement is ridiculous! if they weren’t taking the eighty dollars out of my check every payday I would arrange to have one hundred dollars directly deposited into a retirement fund or put into a 401k.

education: We need more alternatives to public school. With less people in public schools there would be less issues with money and space and the class rooms would contain better face to face learning. Alternatives are of course private schools, both in class rooms and online, public schools that offer online opportunity’s where parents can help teach their kids instead of relying wholly on some teacher the parent doesn’t know, and home schooling. A combination of all these options would ease the stress on our school system as well as keeping us from relying wholly on the government to educate our children.

Gull Island

July 1st, 2008 JAdams No comments

There has been a quite, may semi-quite, storm brewing on the Internet as of late about a tiny, no nothing island out in Alaska, called Gull Island. Gull Island, and by extension the under it and Alaska, could be the solution to lowing the price of Oil within the next few year. This has spread so much as of late that on today’s Sean Hannity show a caller mentioned it to the guest host.

So in case you are having trouble finding out about this little island that could let me give you a little history and information that I have collected. Gull Island is located about five miles off shore from Prudhoe Bay in Alaska’s northern slope.

Gull Island, although close, is not in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge or ANWR which you can see the border of it does not cover the Prudhoe Bay area and is a few miles north east of the ANWR area boundary, which is also clearly visible on the official ANWR site.

In the 1970’s Lindsay Williams a Chaplain for the Alyeska Pipeline Company witnessed ARCO drill, test, analyze and then cap a huge oil find on Gull Island. It’s been said that Gull Island has enough oil to pump 2 million barrels of oil a day for 200 years. We import about 10 million barrels of crude oil per day in 2007, so using 1970 era figures and technology we have solved 1/5th of our foreign oil dependence on an already drilled and currently capped well.

But that was 1970 and technology has gotten at least a little bit better since then. Keeping that in mind I believe that 2 million is a entry level figure and should at least double with current technology and methods. If we start drilling now we will see our prices start dropping soon, but it won’t be by a lot. By freeing our oil companies to build new we will be sending a message to the futures markets and futures prices will drop.

If we leave our local oil and Gull Island to just sit there we could end up paying a lot more and oil will reach $170 a barrel easy. If you don’t believe me King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia today mentioned in a speech that we should all get used to current prices and prepare for even higher rates.

But there is no problem right? We could all be switching to other cars, and all those people that can’t afford an electric car or a hybrid should just walk or take the bus, because that’s how you move a family with kids around, the bus. But let is not live off of our land here in America who is without a doubt the most resource rich country in the world from oil to natural gas.

So let the debate rage on. Let’s keep pushing our country toward a depression by raising the cost of transportation and goods to a level where the low-middle and lower class of our society cannot eat or get around. Somehow I should be more worried about a few anamials and micro-organisms in Alaska then my next door neighbor, yea that makes sense.

The Dangers of Liberalism

April 21st, 2008 JSmith No comments

I believe that my common sense, moderate, conservatism approach to political philosophy is the way to go and liberalism( although good for the little guy) turns out to be more destructive than beneficial. Sometimes the little guy is little for a reason and the bigger guy is big because he/she does the right things and becomes big. Saying “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me” will only cause the aggressor to pick up a stick or stone. If it sounds like I’m talking to children thats because such concepts are common sense. todays generation of teens that are soon to be adults have been raised to take the side of the little guy. when they discover that America is the most powerful country on earth it suddenly becomes cool and popular to regret being American. patriotism is fading so fast I cant find anyone under the age of 20 that is willing to be patriotic in front of their peers. Democrats (who are supported by liberals) want to help the poor by making it easier for them to get money or blatantly giving them our tax dollars for doing nothing. I am poor as I write this but because I live in America I know that a lot of hard work and fiscal conservatism will allow me to work my way up. It is common sense and I have witnessed that most poor people are poor because they are unwilling to do what it takes to progress. Todays society, full of young adults straight out of our school system, is over flowing with whiners who think they are somehow entitled to more money and toys because they are in America. This mentality is all to common and totally unrealistic. It is commonsense to realize that this planet and this country has limited resources; if you want some you have to work hard to get some. Instead of being liberal and falling for unrealistic ideas of equality we need to be MODERATE and try to understand each other. Last but not least, especially in todays world where prices are skyrocketing, pollution is heating the planet up, and we know how important it is to not harm the environment we live in, conservatism takes on a whole new importance. Conservatism to me is about saving money and making safe financial decisions(economy), not over indulging in pleasures or comforts(gas and electricity), accepting that life is hard, trying your best to be responsible, hardworking, and leading by example in order to make a difference. I hope I see more hardworking, patriotic, and money wise kids coming out of our school system in the next couple of years or I will seriously be worried about our future as the greatest country in the world.

Left Learning

April 9th, 2008 JAdams No comments

In all my years of education; high school, college and university I can’t recount one teacher that was a conservatives. Now I’m not saying that I didn’t have any, it was just that they either didn’t bring their political views into the classroom or they tried not to show themselves leaning too far to one side of the political spectrum. It’s something that’s really common knowledge, our institution’s of higher learning are predominately populated by liberals.

This isn’t an unknown and it’s well documented that conservatives are outnumbered in universities. This issue here is that kids with no real world experience are going straight, or semi-straight, out of high school into universities. My experience in high school is that there wasn’t a too pronounced leaning one way or the other. I noticed a slant of some teachers just because I was really paying attention on the classes where those topics came up. But in universities you truly get assaulted by a far left leaning liberal bias that permeates almost every facet of the institution.

I’ve heard experience from some people that lean even a little to the right that they’ve failed classes or assignments because of their beliefs. Having had talks with friends who are attending universities my advice usually centers on keeping your beliefs to yourself or you could find yourself in hot water. The problem is that it’s not just the professors. Giving a young ideological kid to a far left leaning processor is like throwing a lamb into a lion’s den. The “The world would be such a better place if….” speeches and the “Conservatives/Republican’s are only for the rich….” diatribes will easily draw the young and mentally ill-prepared in.

Kids love fairy tales and stores of utopia. The liberal dream of no-one ever being offended, health care for all, everyone is the same, no war and a life on easy street are liken to dangling a bagie of rock cocaine over a coke fiend’s head. They soak up all the bias information from the knowledge gods and begin reciting it ad nauseum to all that will listen. I can’t tell you how many political, economic and and policy arguments I’ve been in with people who have just entered university or have been in for a while. Normally these types have scholarships or their parents are paying for everything, which means all they have to do is attend school. One people who have to work to stay in school tend to be more grounded and logical, they may still lean to the left, but my experience is that they have learned that you don’t take everything someone is telling you at face value and recite it like the word for god.

I feel that left leaning liberals and ultra-libs are drawn to universities, like flies to a zapper. It’s the dream job to them, they don’t have to live in the real world, the work is easy and they can’t be fired. They teach a class here and there and pontificate on why the world sucks to bad and how they are so much more knowledgeable then all the other sheep out there.

There is good news, once the kids go off into the real world they eventually will forget all the crap they picked up in university and learn from the school of life. When that happens they will finally be able to make up their own mind on which political ideal with agree with.

Go great unwashed masses of sheep and pray at the alter of University.
